Bottle Kicking 2013

Bottle Kicking is a local Leicestershire tradition taking place on Easter Monday between to villages, Hallaton and Medbourne, whereby they essentially have a massive scrum to try and get the keg of beer (bottle) across their respective score line. The tradition is over 200 years old and has only been cancelled once in that time.

See more on the origins here.

It is best of three games although
the start is far closer to Hallaton and so they usually win. However this doesn't discourage many participants from the local area joining in to make it a fairer fight. This year the first round headed straight off to Medbourne and even though they secured a win it ended with 2-1 to Hallaton.

It's a great event and is amazing that, in our health and safety culture, we can keep these traditions going.
